What’s Buzzing in WordPress 💖

  • Got Noticed… Aditya Sharma shared about WP(.)Cloud offering from Automattic – seems like another new thing(is it?) and competitor to existing WordPress Cloud providers. Also, here is a new and free online home for storing your code bits; Code Snippets Cloud is now available, Imran did a quick video walk-through of this and loved it.
  • Big Updates… Beaver Builder (2.6) released a big update with features like auto updating reusable blocks within Beaver layouts, a bunch of micro page templates, and new breakpoints in the global setting of finer layout control on various devices. While the Groundhogg CRM has added integration for the users of Presto Player to trigger events based on the current video progress.
  • Debut Upcoming Events… the team at WPTonic and Convesio is brewing the membership success summit scheduled for Sep 29, 2022 (online), featuring amazing speakers line up like Patt Flynn and more. While Nev Harris and Michelle Frechette are working on WP Wealth Builder Summit scheduled for Feb 03, 2023 (online).

Extended WordPress Buzz 🔥

  1. This Needs Attention… Matt said, “There’s a challenge getting assistive technology users to test Gutenberg and provide feedback.” In response to this, a tweet by Amber Hinds, “Only if you expect them to do it for free. Budgeting to pay people with disabilities for their time will solve this…” – started the much-needed conversation.
  2. For More Attention… Piccia Neri published an excellent article on why WordPress employers don’t advertise salary ranges and why all should mention it. Also, responding to criticism calmly is viewed as an all-out attack – Nyasha Green highlighted the world war of communication in the WordPress ecosystem.
  3. Matt Speaks… check this interesting live Q&A session with Matt Mullenweg at the recently concluded WordCamp US 2022 event. Also, Matt appeared in an interview on the ‘This Week in Google’ show hosted by Leo Laporte, Jeff Jarvis, and Ant Pruitt.
  4. New with Blocks & Builders… Gutenberg 14.1 release has added typography and spacing options to various blocks, among other improvements. While the Breakdance builder is taking its first steps with the availability of version 1.0 and the release candidate versions will stop working on September 20, 2022.
  5. Big Beyond WordPress… Canva is known for being an easy online tool for graphics design; well, now you can also build websites – this might just be the next big thing. Also, shaking up and surprising everyone – Adobe will acquire their competitor Figma very soon!
