  • Got Rebranded… Affiliate Royale plugin has been rebranded into Easy Affiliate with newfound direction. Besides the leader AffiliateWP, SliceWP is another plugin climbing steps fast in the affiliate plugins space. Also, see why Astra theme changed name of their product plans to essential and growth bundles!
  • Better on WordPress… love how easy it is to start a newsletter on Substack? Well, you can do the same on WordPress with Newsletter Glue with everything under your ‘control’. While the new Chili Search promises to be a better alternative to the default WordPress search by being a faster, more accurate, and reliable full-ajax search.
  • New Plugins… James Hunt has released a new plugin that optimises YouTube embeds in the WordPress Gutenberg block editor for core web vitals (GDPR compliant and privacy-focused). While Ivica Deliฤ‡ has released Widget Detector plugin for Elementor users to find all Elementor Widgets that are used or missing on pages and posts.

  1. Big Goofup… when single-purpose WP User Avatars plugin was repurposed into full membership plugin keeping users in the dark. Users have revolted by adding a lot of 1-star reviews on the plugin’s listing, as the owner tried to explain his side of the story. Fortunately, there are already alternatives in the form of plugins like simple local avatars, basic user avatars, and WP user avatars.
  2. WP Ecosystem… ownership change at Post Status is happening, as Brian Krogsgard has given full control of this project to much experienced Cory Miller, who is excited about the future direction.   3. Web Summits… are still going strong and more coming. WPengine has announced Summit 2021 (June 24, 2021), an all-digital event for developers and marketers. Also, the second edition of the WordFest event is taking shape (July 23, 2021), the festival of WordPress.
  4. Blocks Life… Page Builder Framework theme has introduced its first Gutenberg block, Notice Block for displaying notices in your content and also added support for the popular Generate Blocks plugin.
