What’s Buzzing in WordPress 💖
- New Launches… Microsoft has launched IndexNow plugin for WordPress users to leverage IndexNow protocol that instantly informs search engines about the latest (real time) content changes on your website. Also, Munir Kamal has launched a more feature rich version of the WordPress theme directory at the GutenbergHub website with additional information for every theme like color scheme, typography, button styles, and more.
- SEO Movements… Yoast has surprised everyone by stepping outside WordPress with the news of Yoast SEO for Shopify – interesting times! RankMath team shared the excitement of CSS Tricks website now using the RankMath SEO plugin. Also, RankMath has added an option to buy additional Content AI credits for every RankMath user. Finally, SEOPress also got a bunch of new features in 5.3v update.
- Page Builders… are still around and going strong! Here is Sunny Trochaniak with his ranking of page builders as we step into 2022 and shake up our website building toolbox. - WP Ecosystem… popular block plugins like Editor Plus and EditorsKit are spinning out of the Extendify team for a more dedicated focus separately on plugins and Extendify services. Also, check the year in core 2021 recap with insights like 2572 people contributed and 305 people made their very first contribution to the WordPress Core.
- The Next WordPress… version 5.9 is going to be a big one and is scheduled to release on Jan 25, 2022.
